My Childhood is Dead

First it was Mr. Rogers, then it was Mr. T, and now Mr. Wizard has joined the ranks of the deceased. My childhood, spent staring into a small grainy non-high def box of a TV, was defined by these Misters, and their deaths mark the official end of all that was good in my youth. Mr. Wizard inspired a deep love of science within me that I have carried throughout my life, both in and out of the classroom. With the staggering failure of No Child Left Behind and science test scores that are on par with Cambodia, now more than ever we need a Mr. Wizard. I’ll never forget the time he filled a glass of ice full of water and then let the ice melt, only to show us the glass didn’t overflow because of displacement. That was fucking rad. Mr. Wizard, the children of the 80’s salute you.

Correction: It has come to my attention that Mr. T is, in fact, not dead. My apologies to his family and creditors.

you thought mr. t was dead? who's high now? what, you can't afford a fact checker at the life and times?

also, i wish i'd watched mr. wizard and the like, but my mom was forcing me to watch dallas and falcon's crest instead, so that ice thing just blew my mind.

I just had a panic attack thinking Mr. T was dead and I wasn't informed.

Any update on the status of the cast of 321 Contact? The Bloodhound Gang?

Holy crap - my heart skipped a beat when I read that Mr. T was dead. I was about to pack my things and take the rest of the day off from work because of the grief.

I loved Mr Wizard. Many morning were spent with my Dad learning science. We all see how well that paid off...

I've met Officer Frankly from 3-2-1 Contact's "Mathnet"!!!!!!! He's AWESOME!! He was doing the same casting director workshop as me. I almost cried when I introduced myself and told him he changed my life. "1-1-2-3-5...EUREKA!!!"

Mr T is currently starring in an ad campaign for Snickers or some such chocolate bar over here in the UK. He drives a tank in it. It's quite the fall from grace, but it's better than being dead.

I think what you meant to say was that Mr T's career was dead.
